Big changes are coming for Carolina real estate: Starting September 12, 2025, Allen Tate Realtors will officially rebrand under the Howard Hanna name, bringing one of the nation’s largest family-owned brokerages deeper into our market. (Pittsburgh Gazette)
What's Changing with the Rebrand?
Allen Tate and Howard Hanna first merged internally in 2018. While agents have operated under Howard Hanna’s systems for years, the client-facing rebrand, what the public actually sees, is only now taking place.
The rebrand will:
- Unify the Howard Hanna name with Allen Tate’s across the Carolinas
- Expand marketing and offerings like the “Buy Before You Sell” program and the “100% Money-Back Guarantee“
- Increase local community impact with $10,000 donations to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, and Duke Children’s Hospital in Raleigh/Durham
Howard Hanna’s president, Howard W “Hoby” Hanna VI, highlighted both metro and secondary markets in the Carolinas as growth engines:
“It’s a perfect partnership. We’re in Charlotte and Raleigh, two major cities that have research, health, banking, and industry that is coming there. And we’re in good, solid places like Winston-Salem and Greensboro that have growth.”
TAG Tip: TAG operates in these same metros, delivering hyper-local appraisal expertise that ensures listings are priced accurately as brand visibility expands.
What the Rebrand Means for Homeowners in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Beyond
For buyers and sellers across North and South Carolina, the rebrand brings more visibility, stronger name recognition, and new programs designed to make transactions smoother.
Kristi Davis, a Howard Hannah Allen Tate Realtor in Cary, sat down with TAG and noted one of the most significant benefits is access to buyer and seller incentives, particularly the Buy Before You Sell Program.
“Without programs like Buy Before you Sell, clients can get stuck in a cycle of needing to sell before they buy. That often forces rushed decisions on one of the biggest investments of their lives. With Howard Hanna Allen Tate’s program, clients can tap into the equity in their current home and have up to 180 days to find the right house. it makes the transition smoother, avoids the stress of overlapping timelines, and help homes sell faster once they’re unoccupied”
What the Rebrand Means for Realtors in Wake County, Mecklenburg County, and Beyond
The Howard Hanna Allen Tate merger benefits not only buyers and sellers, but also opens new doors for realtors. With a wider network spanning 13 states, agents can now serve clients more seamlessly, even when their moves cross state lines.
“Becuase Howard Hanna has its own mortgage company, the Buy Before You Sell program becomes an added perk. Not just for clients, but for agents too. It gives us the ability to handle both transactions, helping clients sell and buy with ease.” – Kristi Davis
For realtors, this expanded network means stronger referral opportunities and the ability to deliver consistent, high-quality service no matter where clients are headed.
Kristi told TAG.
“Before the merger, Allen Tate’s reach was limited to North Carolina, but now, as one company, we can extend those benefits across state lines. I had a client moving from West Virginia, and thanks to the merger, I was able to connect them with a Howard Hanna agent and still offer the program. That’s a massive win for agents and clients alike.”
TAG Insight: Family Owned= Locally Grown
A consistent theme in the Howard Hanna Allen Tate merger is the strength of family-owned businesses, and we can relate.
Kristi told TAG, “As a family-owned business, they can stay centered on outreach and involvement, rather than being driven by investors who don’t understand the day-to-day needs of our local markets.”
Family ownership means staying rooted in the community, rather than responding to corporate demands. It’s about making decisions that put clients and neighborhoods first.
TAG Tip: At TAG, we share that same foundation. Since 2008, our family-run appraisal team has helped homeowners, lenders, and attorneys across North and South Carolina navigate life’s most significant decisions with accuracy, care, and local expertise.
